Now I thought I'd write about something different for a change and in a different format.
I have been trying to invest my time in being a better Steemian and putting more of my heart (so to speak) into my posts and sharing more of myself with the Steemit community as well as other communities I participate in. I'm getting the hang of it, though I am still a little time poor at the moment, but I'll get there.
In light of this I thought I'd pull this little guide together on things that I need to keep reminding myself and things that might help those out there wishing to build a better Steemit.

Focus is Key
Focusing on a main topic in your steemit posts can really be of value, allowing you to build up a following of people with similiar interests and those on similiar Steemit journeys to yourself. This allows you to all be able to participate in valid conversations and helps to diminish the depressing 'nice post' comments being the first and last thing you see under your posts.
Headlines
Read all about it, gets your posts, get your red hot posts right here folks.
Headlines can be quiet simply the difference between someone reading your posts or not. If you don't make every effort to use a headline that catches the eye then it is very likely that you will sink into the wash with so many other posts that just copy and paste or make simple statements.
I like to when possible use statements that people might recognise, even occasionally something that is a little cliche. But regardless I always try to make sure that the person can at a glance get a quick understanding of what the post might contain. Nothing worse then something that is just way too close to clickbait.
There be power in pictures, my friends
For they tell a story of a thousand words. I believe and equally fail to do so with this point. I try to add images when ever I can to my posts. It should be noted that when adding images, that they are actually relevant. I'd say I'm not the only one that finds myself wondering why some one has addded a particular image when it seems to have no relationship to the post.
There is also such a thing as too many memes, if you ask me. I get so sick of seeing them and they really don't add anything to the blockchain, please feel to tell me if I am wrong in the comments.
Make Friends
Its kind of in the name of the term 'social media' but sometimes it seems that we all lock ourselves down and disconnect from those around us. In steemit, it is kind of imperative that you don't do this as you will see that your followers will just stop growing and god forbid that it starts going down on top of all that. I have only really been concentrating my efforts on steemit for a relatively short time but I have tried to make some connections with people in an effort to reach out to people for some companionship but also to gain some measure of success on this media.
Once you start reaching out to people you will find that slowly and steadily people will start reaching out to you also. In this way you will not only make friends but you will be able to grow your followings by mutual recognition of the good works that you all do.
Develop content from social suggestions*
Always seek feedback from your followers. They are the people that your trying to reach. If their comments or lack there of lead you to believe that your content is what they want or the tone is wrong then switch it up, seek feedback. This will also make for stronger bonds and friends on the platform
We may never be a “big” blogger, but thats okay
I guess what I'm trying to say is we are all working towards something here. We are all working at it together. Some people are whales and some people like me, are plankton in this ponds.
But you know what, that's okay. I know if I had the opportunity I would invest into this blockchain with some spare dollars, but hey I can't afford that, so I invest my time. We all do.
The concept that we will all make it big straight away is a lovely idea, but if you don't have the money to invest then it is just going to have to be your time that you put in. There is some good movements out there that are supporting minnows etc. but they have to wade through the murky end of the pond to spot us that really want to be a part of something real, something big.
At first I got frustrated that I wasn't having much success with Steemit, but then I realised that maybe I should shift my thinking, and so I did. I know do this for myself and those that utilise Steemit that might find my posts/blog entries of interest.
I like the idea of making posts that become part of the blockchain, so to speak. It make me feel like I'm leaving my own permanent ripples in a particularly awesome pond. So I will continue on my way and keep on writing and enjoy the thought that I am part of something that is still pretty young but has massive potential now and into the future.
