Votes become worthless if you use too many in a 24 hour period,
and our top level posts' potential payouts increase in decay if posting more than 4 top level posts in a 24 hour day.
A deep digging into the Github steemit steem releases (explanations of both Hard and Soft Fork implementations) can reveal the importance of disciplining one's self in matters of posting and voting.
Posting:
CORRECTION EDIT pointed out by @freebornangel: Posting Limit had been removed with a Steem Simplicity 0.17.0 Hardfork. Though I would still recommend keeping in mind a disciplined amount of posting on a daily basis to avoid any conflicts of perceived spam.

My apologies for not seeing it when first reviewing the Post Limit Policy.

Voting: Voting more than 10-20 times per day will increase the potential for the value of said vote to be decreased, to the point it becomes of no value what-so-ever. Each new vote WILL decrease your voting power by approximately 2%, and does take a certain amount of time of refraining from voting anything before it will recharge to 100% (something about 20% being regained in a 24 hour period).
One can monitor the value of their vote (as well as the strength of said vote) by entering one's user name at
https://steemnow.com/
and
https://steemd.com/@sornprar
(being sure to replace '@sornprar' with your own username in the URL).

EVIDENCE FOR POSTING - GITHUB
"Each root level comment has a reward weight which impacts the end payout of the post. We are targeting 4 posts in 24 hours. Your first 4 posts in 24 hours will not be penalized. After that, they weight is decreased from 100% based on your average posting frequency. Having a frequency just barely higher than 1 every 6 hours will have very little impact, while spamming will be penalized heavily. This change is aimed to increase the quality of content at the cost of quantity."

CORRECTION EDIT: Posting Limit has been removed since the Steem Simplicity 0.17.0 Hardfork (see the @freebornangel reference above).

EVIDENCE FOR VOTING - PERSONAL EXPERIENCE & OBSERVATION
Have a look at the following two screenshot photos from steemnow.com, using user @academix87 for the example. To be clear, I have nothing against this user and find their content interesting enough to follow them. Yet I could not pass up the opportunity they presented to support my claims/facts here. And hopefully this user may notice the mention of them in this post and perhaps learn a bit to improve the value of their experience here.
This user, an apparent habitual voter at any 'cost', has upvoted their own posts and comments so often that by the time they give an upvote to another it has no value. For all the good intention intended by voting so much so often, this user seems to have neglected the fact that somewhere between their 10th and 20th upvote the value of their vote became $0.00.

Voting Power down to 3.5%, several self-upvotes seen between any upvotes for others.

100% of their depleted 3.5% voting power for one of my posts results in a $0.00 potential payout gain.
By the time this user was generous enough to give an upvote my way (or to anyone else for that matter, including upvoting their self), their vote is worth $0.00. And, theoretically, it will take at least 5 full days of NO VOTING at all before it will recharge to it's 100% value potential (which would be $0.01 based on the amount of Steem Power in this user's wallet).

Hope this helps, please help spread the word and support those who follow you by resteeming this post.
