One would instinctively look to the steem blockchain as place to provide some for of patent for ideas. Thus, would come on the blockchain and drop an idea and even a prototype of it as there is a community and a public blockchain where everything is verifiable but is that the case or not?
I would really like to know this answer and it becomes obvious by the day, that everyone can carry out any idea of choosing even if someone else is already progressing with it. There seem to be some sort of competition and some sort of race as if someone needs to do something fast before some gets to it.

Yes, steem code is open source but how about ideas created by steemians? Is it really possible to disrupt something like Kickstarter using steem, if once you put out your project and sought crowdfunding, you see someone else doing exactly the same thing the next day?
Agreed, no idea can fully be covered by patent but isn't that where the blockchain backed by a community of repute comes in?
How does one have a measure of protection of ideas, he saves them on the blockchain; does he need to back it up with a domain name? Is it a steemit username in itself some form of protection? Isn't name space some form of indication of anything.
Will like to hear your thoughts on this issues.
I think developers will be interested in this too because, why spend hours into coding, only to drop your product and seeing hundred similar inventions and an instant unexpected competition and possible rivalry?
For this post, i talking mostly of innovation prototypes etc, how does someone protect them or are they all open source once they are published on the steem blockchain.
