I've been checking to see if new user accounts were being added. One place to do that is on steemd. On the right side there is a set of stats and registered_accounts is near the bottom. This has hardly changed for a few days, but was up by about 260 today! In the past we were getting a couple of hundred each day, but many were likely to be 'sock puppets' or other fakes. We need real people here. There are uses for bots, but nobody should need hundreds of those.
Meanwhile the Steem price has been on a wild ride. It's still on the wave that's lifting most cryptocurrencies. That's good, but I think sustainable growth will be built on increasing usage of Steemit. When there are millions of people here earning Steem and using it to buy stuff then it will have much more value. It certainly beats Bitcoin for speed and by having free transactions. I'll be looking out for opportunities to spend some of mine.
Current users are just the first wave. We have a great opportunity to build up some Steem Power. There's only so much of that available each day and so it will get spread thinner as Steemit grows. So keep posting, commenting, voting and making connections with the amazing people here from around the world.
