Okay, I think it's technically tomorrow, but I may not have time to post then (Steemd confirms it's 364 days today). I joined Steemit just after the Tsu site got shut down. That was another site that paid you. They did it via advertising, but they run out of funds to run the business. I only took out $200 over 20 months, but I made more. I gave some away to charities and spent some.
One of my Tsu friends was @the-bitcoin-dood and he introduced me to Steemit. I wasn't sure I really wanted to get into another social site, but the technology was intriguing and I couldn't resist.
I've done a little vlog to mark this momentous day.
From Steemwhales you can see that I hardly made anything in the first couple of months, but it eventually picked up. I saw others making a lot more, but I was happy to make anything and I was having fun making new friends.
The Steem price has varied a lot in that time from over $2 to about 6c. I kept on going and haven't taken anything out until fairly recently. I did transfer funds to a few people in exchange for some art and guitar picks. I've been happy to keep most of it powered up so that I can give more to people with my votes. I have now delegated some to others to use.
Steemit is not perfect, but then nothing is. I've thought from the start that it has great potential. We just need the team to make it good enough to take over the world. I hope to see millions here in the next year or two. It could be a totally different experience by then, but I've had a great time so far and I hope it can continue to be fun.
I did try to scroll back to my first post, but gave up on that. It would be cool to have some tool that shows your whole timeline and lets you go straight to a given day. Does this exist?
Steem on and on and on!
I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars
If this post is over seven days old you can vote up one of my newer posts to reward me.
