So I just write about anything, anything at all, and I get paid?? That's quite EASY!!
Those were the exact words I said to my friend, @timoshey, who introduced me to steemit. That was over a month ago, and I'm not going to lie, it has been one frustrating journey.
I remember the first time I visited steemit, and saw the amount of money people were making on the trending page. The first thoughts that came to my mind was, "Dayo, you have found a way to pay your bills" (And trust me, there are a lot of them)
With all the blood rushing around, I did not browse around, make connections first or even consult the all knowing"steemit manual". I just plunged in heedlessly into my introduce yourself post, and before the post even took off, it suffered tragic mechanical failure and took a nosedive
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Undeterred by my initial efforts, I made some little changes and jumped right into my second post. An interesting one(if I do say so myself), but that also had $0.00 after three days.
It was at this moment I knew, something was not right
So I went back to my friend, told him of of my troubles, and after minutes of him making a mockery of me, he gave me a proper introduction to steemit.
That's when I saw what I was doing wrong, which was basically everything.
I was so desperate to make money that I wasn't thinking of anything else. I was not reading people's post, wasn't commenting nor upvoting. And most importantly, I WAS NOT MEETING PEOPLE.
With that new mindset, I put a pin on all my future posts and actually took time to enjoy steemit.
There is more to steemit than cryptocurrency
When I finally took the time to enjoy steemit, I discovered a lot of fun aspects I could relate too. Movies, games, sports and entertainment.
I discovered @sportsncoffee sports quiz, @feekayo interesting life views, and recently #steemgigs and @steemsports.
I've met a lot of people, and some I've gotten to know better at steemit.chat. So yes, after a month here, steemit might have started frustratingly but I have made progress.
Here's to a better second month of steemit.
