I have previously attempted to get Dash it's own Icon within FontAwesome.io, basically the most widely used Font for icons on the web at the moment. Bitcoin has one, Snapchat recently got one and so on and so forth.. but fell short w/ funding, but I think we can do this on Steemit easily!
The benefits:
- A widely usable icon included in the most popular font set of them all.
- A linkback from fontawesome.io to Steemit.com.
- Loads of new curious eyeballs wondering what this new Steemit thing is..
- An easily accessible & usable icon for Steemit.
- Webfonts are hugely helpful to everyone, can be used within Steemit if @Dan and/or @Ned would like them to be.
- Hordes of Web Designers, Developers and FontAwesome users all become aware of Steemit at once due to seeing it on the FontAwesome website over the next year and beyond.
- Overnight it becomes 50x easier to "link" back to Steemit effectively, without hacking together some Steemit logo image we can just use a simple icon font like all the other social media giants..
The FontAwesome process:
Pay $3,000, they build the icon font into the set, we wait until the next "version" comes out, use the Steemit icon for years to come.
This does not come free sadly.
Either @Dantheman and/or @Ned can simply write an email to FontAwesome and get something like this funded, or I'd be happy to simply pass along the earnings from this post and get the FontAwesome team working on our very own icon ASAP. The cost is $3,000 USD and once paid development begins. I just want a cool Steemit icon to use for social media links and what not back to the site all around the internet, and on my own websites as well. I think alot of people would put these to good use!
Also, perhaps Steemit could use it's own customized icon set for the UI? They do that too!
