Long time no see steemians :) well... today I’ll write about languages in Japan. How many languages do you speak? and do you want to learn another languages? Now, I speak two languages, English and Japanese. Also I want to learn Chinese and Korean... any way, I would like to emphasize Japanese have to learn more.. Okay, let’s get started ;)
First,It is obviously that speaking more than 2 languages is vital for us who live this generation. Despite this, you know, most of Japanese speak only one which is Japanese.
These days, I have some curious about this problem, and I am sometime thinking about it and the solutions. Now I have 2 reasons why Japanese speak only one language and they don’t want to learn. Also the 2 reasons and the resolution (including my 1 year challenge) will be written in this steemit blog.
Basically, Japan is a island and is not multicultural society. So I mean, we don’t have many opportunities to speak other languages. Thus, we don’t have to do so. This is the first reason why we do not speak another language.
The second reason why is the problem of our language education. You know, we start to learn English from elementary when we are around 10 years old. It means most of Japanese have been studying English for more than 10 years until 20 years old. However we can only say “I’m fine thank you.” OH MY GOSH! It is caused by poor education. In Japan, we don’t consider English as a commutation tool, just like for Examination. So typical Japanese are good at reading and their speaking is poor. Like this, Language is only on the desk for them.
Although these reasons are absolutely true, some people speak other language very well in Japan. What is the differences between them?
In my opinion, the biggest difference is their continuity. The most effective way to enhance language skill is studying everyday.
And from Today, I’ll demonstrate this. I mean, this is my 1 year challenge which is to study Chinese. Actually my Chinese skill is 0, I know only 謝謝 which is Thank you. From this poor level, how much I can improve my Chinese. I am really excited about my one year laters future. And I strongly believe we can be able to speak any language only one years study. The progress of Chinese and what I learned will be written in this blog from today.
