If I write in detail then it will be never ending comment, because there are lot of disadvantages of using other social media platforms than STEEMIT, but there are some features in which steemit is totally behind or lagging to other social media platforms.
Let me share my point of view!!, please continue reading..... :)
1: Before STEEMIT, I have accounts on Quora, Facebook, Pinterest, instagram, twitter, etc. but after joining Steemit, I realized that it is very good platform of expressing your views, sharing pictures, upvoting and resteem others work as well.
2: No platform, other than steemit, can provide us something or paying us in regard of our content, or upvoting other comments or etc.
3: Second thing is that other platforms have no COPYRIGHT CHECK, anyone can use any others image or using content from other websites and post it into Facebook without mentioning owner or image or article source.
But Steemit is the one, which rejects all the plagiarized content and only accept genuine conetent. That is the beauty of using Steemit.
4: I really like the STEEMIT BOTS, they are really performing an amazing job of tracking absusive content, track down plagiarized content. They provide daily report which is visible to everyone, so there is a transparency in it. Anyone can verify it. These bots are really fast and immediately (approximately in minutes) they find similar content on the whole WEB and then reply to the one who have copied the material from other websites.
So no, one can copy material or even copy an image and post it onto steemit without giving credits to the original creator or owner.
5: Next thing is about the pure, real, genuine content on Steemit. That's why the #steemians community is keep growing and no one can stop it now or in the near future. Because the world is now moving towards cryptocurrencies and BLOCKCHAIN technology
6: The tagging system in Steemit is very amazing, and also there is only 5 tags you can use on each post. It is a very good limit set by #steemit. It will help us to reduce the unwanted tags or rubbish tags usage in post.

You can earn by upvoting other posts or comments or replies.
You can earn by making a genuine content
You can earn by curation reward
You can earn by making awesome replies
So in short, there are many ways you can earn steem dollars on steemit.
8: Other thing is that everything is clear on steemit, any one can check other steemians #wallet #status #steempower #comments #profile #blogs etc.

9: I will appeal to everyone to please stop wasting time on Facebook and other common social media platforms which have no use at all. All the money that is generating from the content, advertisers and sponsored posts go to the owners of their websites #facebook #medium #instagram #snapchat #linkedin #Quora #Twitter etc.
You got nothing at the end, please join #steem community and earn money from there in your free time. Many people are earning a decent amount of money from @steemit platform and they have eventually left their 8 or 10 hours job.
10: But one thing, I want to suggest to #steem @steemcommunity to please work on website aesthetics, because Facebook, #snapchat #twitter are doing a lot of things to make their platform amazing, soothing, wonderful, #sexy & #charming, that's why everyone wants to join these platforms with no usage at all. Just use these conventional platforms for scrolling purpose.....LOL
Please work on the followings;
1: Aesthetics of #steemit website
2: Make it looking awesome or sexy
3: Add feature of uploading videos on steemit posts, comments and replies. #steemitwebsite
4: Add more tabs
5: Emoticons
6: Messaging feature etc.
