We went to the Yellowknife River to test the motor, and make sure the boat still floats. Damned if it didn't work perfectly. Even with 2-year-old fuel, it sounded just dandy.
So our bad decision tonight, was to go up the river. Being ill-prepared in this region can be disastrous. We weren't dressed for much of a trip out, and were chilly on the way back. Should have brought a sweater. :)
A slight chill was, by FAR, the worst of the trip.
So up to Tartan Rapids, to have a bit of a snoop around. Once there, I decided to create a short strava segment in the portage. I turned on my Garmin, waited for connection and ran it both ways. I'm counting this as a #steemitactivities post, because after my tempo workout this afternoon, this really was all I had left. I'm fairly sure I can beat my time when I go again, but not by much. :)
The trip was a treat, and something we will be doing more of this season. All the usual birds, bugs, abandoned boats and best of all, my sweetheart!

pretty sure it's a yellow warbler, or a cardinal
This one has to be an ostrich. You can tell it isn't an emu from the lack of the characteristic comb and wattle
