Us ambassador in Russia John Huntsman took part in traditional Epiphany swimming in ice holes. I say that was nice move from this guy, well done.
Not really familiar with his previous work, i only knew his name till now, but this is something for respect. Now be nice and give him some samogon too, or kompot
Media claim he said he wanted to experience spiritual traditions of Russia. Seems hes really into it.
In my area, people are celebrating Epiphany similar way, and there is quite long tradition of ‚‚swimming for cross of honor" if thats the right translation. People are racing to floating cross in the water, and winner usually get some symbolic reward.
Heres the photos from Serbia, Bosnia and Montenegro, 2 days ago.

Winter is not any harsh like last year, but in some areas there is quite nice minuses and snow.
Ive been swimming on january 19 since i learned to swim, never been first. There was always that one guy or chick with torpedo up their butts, and when you just manage to release the grip of rib cage on your lungs out of cold, and start making swim like moves, they are already done and celebrating ^^
