Jealousy is interesting.
I see it all the time but I notice people don't really talk about it much these days.
Of course, jealousy comes in many different shapes and sizes.
We usually think about relationships when we think of the word jealous.

There's a particularly pretty server at my restaurant that all of the guys want to hook up with.
Of course, she bats her eyes at everyone and acts interested in each guy that comes up to her. Every guy thinks that they have a chance with her, and she doesn't do anything to discourage them.
This way she's in everyone's good favor and she can get away with most anything she wants.
Some of the guys get really angry with each other though. If Bob sees Carl go up and talk to her he will immediately approach him and say what do you think you're doing!!
Bob thinks he has a relationship with this girl. Of course she's not giving Bob any reason to think any differently. Carl thinks he has relationship with her too. All of the guys do.
There has been so much petty bickering over this girl that I am completely surprised that the manager still allows her to work there.
Jealousy doesn't just refer to hormones.
How about that new car that your friend just bought? How can he afford to buy a new car when you're still riding around in that piece of crap? How come you have to take the bus while your workmate rides in a sweet sports car?
It's frustrating. Some people have more bills than others. Some people are in quite a bit of debt. For the most part it has to do with past decisions and not how we are as people.
Therefore, you could say that it's pretty unfair. You'd be right to think that too because the world is completely unfair.
However, getting jealous is exactly the opposite way to make yourself feel better.
There's an old adage that says living well is the best revenge.
You don't need to get revenge against anyone to want to live well.
The best way to not get jealous though, is just to make sure that you've got your life on track. Don't sabotage yourself by staying out late drinking and spending all your money. Foolish decisions will mean that you'll never be able to afford that new car. You may never be able to afford it anyway..... but that doesn't mean you should be feeling bad about it.
Maybe Robert really deserves everything that he has.
Maybe he even doesn't.
You deserve to feel good about yourself though. So instead of thinking about all the things that you wish you had, or the relationships you wish you were in, you should instead just be glad to be yourself.
Jealousy is a terrible thing.
