I have been attracted by ancient cultures since my childhood. More than 10 years ago I worked on excavations as an archaeologist assistant. I've made drawings of hundreds of artefacts for the museum database where I worked. Most of the objects were from Roman times, but sometimes I had a few prehistoric objects in my hands. That was so exciting! I would like to introduce a very special artefact, that - to my knowledge - is not exhibited, presumably hidden in a cabinet of a museum in Romania.
The Tartarian tablets are three tablets, two of them are rectangular, the third is round. They were found in 1961 at a neolithic site in Tartaria (Tatárlaka), near Alba Iulia (Gyulafehérvár) in Transylvania. They were made of fired clay, their age is approx. 6500 years, so they are older than Sumerian clay slabs. In this article I just deal with the round tablet because the mysterious signs on it initiate our imagination. Signs are really noteworthy, because if they are broken down into their elements, we can find some of our ancient runic signs!

In his book, "Sign, sign, sign!", Csaba Varga described in details what sets of signs were used in Europe 30,000 years BC. He compared a set of different alphabets, like Sumerian, ancient Greek, demotic Egyptian, Székely-Magyar runic writing, Futhark, German runes, etc. He came to the conclusion that there are many common signs in these signal sets and most of the primordial signs are included in the Székely-Magyar runic writing (rovásírás).

Some researchers tried to decipher the signs of the round tablet. These decipherments are rather attributable to vivid fantasies. Yet, there is a possible reading, which is most acceptable to me. In that pre-historical era, it was a matriarchal society, they primarily honored "Happy Lady" (Boldogasszony), "Goddess Mother" as creator, and, of course, Mother Earth, whose body they were born from.
The reading is a beautiful prayer from the great Hungarian sumerologist, Ferenc Badiny-Jós:
"Our Patrone! The Glorious Lady of All Secrets! Take care of us with your two eyes in the light of our Father Sun!"
Nowadays, there have been a lot of copies of this tablet, which people wear as amulets. I also made one from wood, not clay.
