Hey Mamas and Mama Supporters,
Today for our Write-Along Challenge we will be writing some fiction! A fictional story is one that describes imaginary events and people. A made up story. Please make your story as long or short as it needs to be, but try to keep it able to be read in one sitting.
If these are enough instructions for you, then please, go fly.
For those who need a little more instruction read on, keeping in mind that these are suggestions and not rules.
Give your story a home
Where will your story take place? Get to know where your characters are, imagine the weather, is it present time? Are we on earth? Are we in a specific city or country? Is it morning, are there any smells around? You don't have to tell your readers any of that information, but as a writer, it helps to know MORE than our readers do.
What perspective are you writing from?
Will you be writing with the help of a narrator? Will you be writing from the perspective of the main character? Can we read the person's thoughts? Who will be telling the story?
Give your story a beginning, middle, and an end
You can call this your story road map. Where is the story starting? Where is the story ending? What has to happen in the middle so the shift can occur.
Run the story through your head
Some people LOVE writing and seeing where the story is going to take them. That's a fun way of doing it too. A different way is to know the basic gist of where your tale is taking you. You probably will still encounter some surprise embellishments to add to your writing. To me this is like knowing your driving route but stopping to smell the flowers instead of just getting in the car and driving.
Remember that this is fun
Do your best and go with it, you are being applauded for your efforts.
Thank you for joining the writing challenge. We appreciate all writers and readers.
