Have you heard of the Steemmonsters, aka SplinterLands, fund raising campaign over at https://seedgerminator.sesameseed.org/ ? This is going to be an awesome chance to bring Steemmonsters to more communities and attract more players/investors.
The details of the campaign is finally released. The below link shows the contribution package and what you can expect to get in Beta packs and the new Promos cards.

Previous KickStarter Campaign
Previously, Steemmonsters had one round of fund raising using Kickstarter and Fundition. It was a huge success for both SM and backers.
I more than tripled my investment in the KS campaign. Here is how it goes.
Bought $50 package at Kickstarter and Fundition, comes with 25 Beta packs (which already covers the cost), and a few Promos cards. More importantly, 1 x Shin-Lo card for each package. I sold both the Shin-Lo for a total of around $220.
It was easy to make some money just by backing the campaigns at Kickstarter and Fundition. So you can expect all of us eagerly waiting for the next round of crowd funding campaign.
Seedgerminator Campaign
This time round, Steemmonsters is partnering with Seedgerminator for the crowdfund. The main reason is to introduce the game to the Tron community and attract players in. More details can be found in the campaign page here https://seedgerminator.sesameseed.org/
However, looking at the rewards, I must say it is not as attractive as what we expected from the kickstarter.
Two modes of contribution is accepted. One using TRX, minimum of 500 TRX to participate, gets you 8 Beta packs. That will be around $1.60 per pack based on current TRX price, and it comes with 5 promo cards. The other mode is using SEED, which results in around $4 per pack but comes with 100 promo cards.
Obviously the TRX package is targetted at the Tron community. Give them a cheap price per pack, with free Starter Pack, and attract them to the game.
Good investment?
But for us over at Steemmonsters, the Promos cards are all that matter in such campaigns. Quick flip them and get a nice ROI.
If this campaign manage to reach its target of 5m TRX/SEED, we will potentially be looking at a huge number of Promos cards distributed. Just the Legendary Red Dragon alone, there could be a few thousands of them in circulation. This is huge contrast to Shin-Lo, where there are only a couple hundred in the wild. Do you see the difference?
Using the 500 Seed mode of funding, after deducting the costs of 12 Beta packs, it essentially means we are spending $30 for 100 promos cards. I don't see how it is possible to get a positive return on this, unless you get a gold foil legendary or epic.
Am I participating
Even after all these analysis, I think the campaign is still a good thing. Growing the user base is more important than anything else for Steemmonsters and its hodlers.
I will participate, just a little bit, to show support for @steemmonsters.
How about you? Let me know your thoughts.
