Hey all, this is a short entry for @cryptoeater's SteemMonsters Booster Pack giveaway. Thanks to @cryptoeater for the opportunity!
If you have any doubts about the future success or value of SteemMonsters, I have a beacon of hope for you. I know a lot of people that collected Magic: the Gathering cards back near its inception, as you might know if you read my last SteemMonsters post. A friend of a friend, to my knowledge, still has an unopened Arabian Nights Booster Box, released in 1993, which is estimated to be worth between $20,000 and $40,000.
So if you're not into cards, or games, or comics, or whatever other nerddom that's expensive for some reason, I totally get it. Seems kind of silly that a card or box of cards, physical or virtual, could be worth soooo much money. But still they are, and people certainly pay for them.
Lots of things factor into the price of cards: age, rarity, condition, usefulness, game/tournament popularity. Condition obviously won't be a factor in the virtual SteemMonsters world, but these other factors will certainly come into play.
Tons of early adopters of MtG made shit tons of money off of their Alpha and Beta cards much later on. Imagine, as early adopters of SteemMonsters, what we could achieve if this coming game is attractive, development continues in full force, the art rocks, the lore takes on its own intricate and interesting life, and wide adoption of SteemMonsters becomes a reality.
