Jeth an Armorsmiths of Khymeria
It was a normal morning for Jeth. He woke up, ate and headed for the forge. Today he had to finish up another ten shields in order to meet his quota. The Silvershield order had been working them hard. The war was ranging on the front was getting closer and closer. The forces of the blight found a way to push the SilverShield order back. There had been calls for the Armorsmiths of Khymeria to join the battle. Many felt that their hammers would destroy the enemies. Jeth new the truth. Their hammers could create amazing armory but when used to try and destroy they failed.
He reached the forge and started to work. It was still before lunch and he was finishing up the last of the shields. His hammer had been working fast today. He wanted to get a head start on the swords that were needed next week. But he took a moment and went for a walk with his hammer in hand. He reached the training grounds. Most of the men who could fight were on the front lines so these grounds didn’t get used as often as before. He walked up to one of the dummies. The armor on it was beaten up. He focused his mind on his hammer. He felt a magic flow into him and sung it hard at the dummy. He heard a clang and opened his eyes. The armor on the dummy gleamed like new.
Jeth walked back towards the forge. He had the magic of his people in his hammer. He had felt it before but it always repaired. It never could destroy. When he didn’t use his power he could land a blow. It was a weak blow that couldn’t even damage a good shield. He didn’t think he could do much in battle. He headed back to the forge to work on more the of gear that the true fighters would use. His head was down for the right of the night. He couldn’t help but want to do more.
The next day was his free day. He spent a few hours at the forge anyways but was told to leave. As he wandered around the camp he saw the road towards the front lines. He wondered how far away it was now. Updates had been slowing down the last few weeks. Reports said that the SilverShield order of life was thinking about working with some of the guilds in the lands. It was truly becoming clear that the people of the splinterlands would have to unite to win this war. His mind wandered as he walked down the road. He was awakened from his daydream by the sounds of battle. Looking up Jeth could see that a healer with a few Silvershield warriors had been retreating to camp. It looked like a few of the monsters of the blight had pushed through the front line and was about to catch them. He started to run forward. He had to help he wasn’t sure how.
It was terrible luck that they had been followed. He had urgent news to share with the others and the blight new it. They had lost so many to push through and follow them. The town was close but not that many fighters stayed behind. They would have to fight thought Healer Pike. He stopped running and cast his magic on the Warrior who had fallen to his knees. The man stood again. He was able to fight but not for long PIke new. Still, if they could win if just one of them could live it would let them share the news of the enemy.
“We might fight men. Each of us must be ready to die as long as one of us makes it back to the camp.”
“Hurrah,” Said the warriors as the turned and braced for the enemy.
The first wave hit them hard and a few of this comrades fell. Pike was ready and cast his healing magic again just in time to help one of the few that remained. He wasn’t sure this was going to work and he caught. The sounds of footsteps from behind. He looked back and saw an Armorsmith running towards them. HIs hammer was glowing with a power he hadn’t seen before. Maybe they can fight he thought. Just as he got closer Pike saw a beast rushing for him. Then he saw the hammer swung at his chest.
Pike was caught so off guard he almost dropped his staff. When the blow hit him a moment before the beast he understood. His armor had recovered and the attack that came at him bounced away. The warriors killed the beast and Pike knew what to do.
“Use that power on the warriors right away I will make sure you stay up.”
With that Jeth ran towards the warriors on the front of the battle. His hammer touched each of them. He was hit time and time again but a wave of magic kept him from falling to the wounds. He touched his own armor when needed by the end of the fight each of them stood in armor that looked like new and ready to fight. The warriors thanked him and asked about what power that had been.
“We don’t really have a name for it but it is something we use to fix broken armor. I was sure I could use it in battle till yesterday.”
“Well, this is another piece of news that we have to share with the leaders of our order. I don’t think you will be spending as much time at the forge in the future.’ said Pike
They traveled as a group back to the town and Pike asked Jeth to join him in the command ten to help write a letter.
“So what should we call your power?”
“We just call it repair.” said Jeth
“How many of your order can do it?”
“Most of us are able to use it just some better than others,” said Jeth
“Okay, I will tell the order that the will need to talk to each of the leaders of the forges and gather the best at this skill to join us on the front line. I will need you to go back with me to train them.”
“Okay,” said Jeth.
Jeth spent that night packing up his gear. He had talked to the others and 2 more would travel with him to the front lines. The others had to stay to keep up with the work. Most of them couldn't use the repair power well. He still thought of that battle. Pike had known right away how to use him in battle. He was ready to travel with them. Together with his healing powers, they could protect the others. Then there was the other news Pike had told him in the tent. The blight was controlled by summoners. Their group had defeated one. They had lost a whole unit of knights and many others. Yet they had beat one and then the whole focus of the monsters of the blight had been to stop them. The didn’t want us to know that there are summoners to target to win this fight.
He watched the messages birds head out along with many horse messengers. This news was too important to not share. As he joined the group headed back to the front lines for the first time in his live Jeth felt proud to be an Armorsmith of Khymeria. He would man his ancestors proud and defend the realm in a new way.
