BLUF: A grand mix of high energy and and relaxing deep bottom tones. A perfect music mix for a great morning of working from home.
Rating: Thumbs Up, it’s in the mix.
Lorne Balfe’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout soundtrack is easily my favorite of the series’ soundtracks. It’s high energy storytelling of sound is a kin to driving on recklessly on a racetrack only to find yourself going off of a jump trying to be Ethan Hunt and get yourself out of there unharmed (or at least able to still crawl away). However, it’s not over-the-top the whole ride… rather it’s a fantastic soundtrack to explore your imagination with.

Of the 26 songs on the standard album (via iTunes) it’s “Free Fall” that stands out as my favorite. Matching with the scene in the movie when both our protagonist and antagonist take a dive out of the back of an airplane with some minor complications. The song brings perhaps the maximum amount of peak intensity offered on the album, while also ending in some of the softer tones offered. It’s is truly mesmerizing to feel the issue (story) being told… this song perfectly paired with “The White Widow” the immediately follows it.
Lorne Balfe is a superb symphonic storyteller and I’m really glad they brought him onto the Mission: Impossible team. And though as of today there’s no word on who’s going to be brought in to work the Mission: Impossible 7 soundtrack, let’s hope it’s Balfe or better.
