Today was a special day!!!!
Coin special that is....
Queen’s Beast SIX Falcon of the Plantagenets has arrived!!! 😃
Look at that cute little falcon holding a banner with ANOTHER cute little falcon on it! This beastly beauty, issued by the Royal Mint, comes comes in at 2oz of .9999 silver. The coin has a £5 face value and the obverse displays the standard picture of Queen Elizabeth. The coin’s edge is reeded.
I really like the texture stamped into the silver behind the Queen’s image.
Let’s check out the falcon with all of his friends.
The crew.
Back Row: Bull of Clarence, Red Dragon of Wales, Lion of England. Front Row: Falcon of the Plantagenets, Unicorn of Scotland, Griffen of Edward III.
In case you are late to the party, what is a Queen’s beast?
According to APMEX.COM:
When Her Majesty The Queen was crowned in 1953, the entrance to Westminster Abbey was guarded by ten fantastical creatures. The Queen’s Beasts were six-foot tall statues that symbolized the heritage and history Queen Elizabeth II inherited that day. These royal protectors have been brought to life in a collection named in their honor, which began in the year The Queen became the world’s longest reigning living monarch.
