It’s time for a downunder throw down!
Three new bars recently made their way to my magical shoebox of silver. ☺️
Bar One: The Sydney Opera House
The opera house bar is a fun eBay purchase. I have no idea where it was minted or how many were made. When I google the bar, most results end up being the actual bars/restaurants near Sydney’s iconic opera house.
Aside from the great image, the bar has one other stand out feature. It weighs only 10 grams! However, the bar is slightly bigger than your average one ouncer. Turns out the opera house silver bar is fairly thin. Having a larger than expected area for the design is a nice touch. PS - this bar is .999 fine.
Bar Two: Perth Mint Silver Kangaroo
This bar is a generic offering from Western Australia’s Perth Mint. It weighs one troy ounce and is .9999 pure. One side of the bar shows a swan, the logo of the Perth Mint. The other side is covered in kangaroo silhouettes. The kangaroo being Australia’s most iconic native animal. While this design has been featured on gold in the past, this is the first year it can be found on silver.
Bar Three: 2019 Perth Mint Dragon
Remember how excited everyone was at the release of the 2018 Perth Mint Dragon? It was a SWEET looking bar. However, it was also unique in being a legal tender coin with a face value of $1 Australian. This year’s bar follows suit being the second coin in the Perth Mint’s Dragon Bar series. At one troy ounce of .9999 fine silver, this $1 beauty depicts a redesigned dragon to add to the stack.
So there you have it. Three delightful bars, from one delightful island. 🐨 🇦🇺💛💚
