Well ever since I started stacking silver and gold, it has always been a dream to have my own round or bar. I have toyed with the idea before steemit, but really didnt know how to make it happen.
Well a few months back, well I guess it has only been a month. I decided to try and make this dream come true. So I put up a post on steemit with a logo challenge. There where a lot of awesome entries and I wish I could have produce all of them. I went with what the community voted on as the winner.
It was an entry by @welshstacker, if you dont know him by know you will, he is the design winner for the 2018 steem silver round. His designed that was done for me was spot on. It had to include cetian things that I wanted to represent. Here is his pencil drawing of the design.
So the next step was to get this design trasformed into a 3d mold. How in the hell was I going to do this. 1st i had to have a 3d design made and put on to a STL file. Yeah I was lost too but i had come to far to stop now. So @welshstacker reached out to the community expert @edxserverus, which come to find out this was his first 3d image experience. He answered the call for help, like he was a professional. Here is his design and 3d art work.
Alright now we have the image in a 3d format on an STL file, just gotta find someone with a 3d printer. Which was very difficult, I did find a company in Houston Texas that could print it.
Which was a very cool process to watch, the company was nice enough to video tape the process and privide me with 3 short videos of the desing being printed off.
So here it is my logo in a 3d printed mold. Now for the last step, it was easy for me, I know A Lot of steemians that hand pour silver. Now this mold would be used to create the desing in a sand cast. So @raybrockman decided to go with @stackinag47, let me tell you he said he could absolutely turn it in to a silver bar. So i had to get this thing mailed to him. It was Friday morning and @stackingag47 wanted to pour it live on Metals Mafia Live chat on Saturday night, so I over nighted the mold to him and we are ready to go.
1st pour was not so good, so the prototype got cut up and went pack in the pot. Second and third pour where perfect.
Just gotta be cleaned up and polished, but they look pretty good. The second pour weighed in at 12.6 oz and the third pour weighed in at 12.2 oz.
Big, I mean BIG shout out to @welshstacker, @edxserverus and @stackinag47, all three of you did an AWESOME job. I could not have made this dream a reality with out each one of you.
Also A big shout out to the entire steemit platform for taking part in the vote process.
