Pre-sales for the Steem Silver Round are still going pretty well, but we are not yet at the target we need to hit. Only 1500 coins were minted of the 2017 Steem Silver Round and they all sold out during the pre-sale.
When we initially announced the 2018 Steem Silver Round we thought that increasing the mintage would be necessary due to the demand from the 2017 version.
The number that was decided on for total mintage for the 2018 Steem Silver Round was 2500. When this number was decided, I did not think it would too tough to reach this number due to the overwhelming demand for the 2017 version.
The Pre-sale begin nearly three weeks ago and we are not close to the limit of 2500 rounds being ordered. This leaves us at a crossroads as we cannot wait for forever to start the process of getting the coins minted because we all want the rounds in our hands as soon as possible.
After speaking with the mint and a few others on here, we all thought that lowering the total mintage of the coin is the best choice of action if we do not increase the sales from the pre-order. The pre-order is the only way to order the coin, except for maybe on the secondary market at drastically higher prices. We may lower the total mintage to as low as 1500 rounds, the same as last years run.
We will see how sales go over the next week and then a final decision will be made on whether we stick with 2500 rounds or decrease the total mintage to 1500 rounds.
If we lower the total mintage and you have requested a COA number above 1500, you can choose another numbered round you want OR receive $2 worth of Steem back.
