I have read a couple articles recently that provide a detailed description of the auction @raybrockman hosted on the steemsilvergold discord channel. If for some reason you live under a rock. @Raybrockman decided to auction of 2017 and 2018 Steem 1oz silver rounds. Interesting enough they were both #0004 of 1,500. On top of the two rounds, he sprinkled some sugar on the deal by including a 2018 #4 2oz Steem silver ingot produced by our very own @pit-bullion. Winner of the auction would then have the rights to the #0004 Steem round in the up comming years.
The auction sure did take off fast! There was a good amount of people watching live which lead to a great show. Needless to say, I am a collector at heart. I missed out on the 2017 Steem rounds and really felt the need to participate in this auction. From the very first time I saw the Steem rounds I have always been drawn to them because of the LOW MINTAGE. Of course, they have fantastic designs that change year to year. The attention to detail on design really stands out when a round is STRUCK as well as these are. On top of all the collectability factors I just provided. The Steem round comes with a certificate of authenticity that shows the serial number associated with it.
I have touched on this topic a few times in my personal Steem articles. All the collectability factors associated with the Steem rounds push them into the "full package" collectable status in my opinion.

Some may be quick to say that it is crazy to pay that amount of money for 4 total ounces of silver. On the other hand, there were several other people bidding? To the point @raybrockman had to set an end time! I believe if it had been a 24hr auction price could have possibly doubled. Public auctions will always put a value on an item based on the demand. That is exactly what occurred that day. The crypto currency market is still young. Mix that into the precious metals market and you yield a Steem round. A young market that is just starting to gain traction. That is the type of market that excites me! Add in all the collectability factors I mentioned above and it could be something MAJOR in the future. That is my perspective.
Auction hammer price 7/8/18 - $455.00
I want to personally THANK @raybrockman for hosting the auction. He kept it very professional! Shipping was fast and very well packaged.
@pit-bullion your craftsmanship and attention to detail is very impressive. Enjoying the 2oz!
Appreciate all the members of #steemsilvergold. What happened the other day with the #0004 Steem rounds is a big step forward! This is all part of the journey to success...
