This is an aerial shot of a section of my home island, Saipan. I woke up this morning feeling quite homesick so I was looking at all my pictures of home and decided that this was the one that I wanted to share with you all today. I spent the first 18 years of my life on that piece of paradise, and after leaving I’ve come to fully understand the saying that “you never know what you’ve got till it’s gone.”
Growing up on that tiny island, we always complained that there was nothing to do and that we couldn’t wait to get off that rock and see the world. But going out into the world and seeing how chaotic and stressful life is out here, now I want nothing more than to return to those carefree days when life was much simpler and 20 minutes across the island was what we considered a “long drive.”
This is the Paradise in the Pacific that is Saipan, in the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
