The Hall of Fame wide-receiver and team leader, Terrell Owens (i.e. "T.O."), just gave a remarkable speech at the University of Tennessee—Chattanooga, which just became one of my personal favorite speeches in sports history because as I was growing up in the nearby area of Philadelphia, and in the year of 2005, it was important to cherish the fact that one of the reasons why the Philadelphia Eagles made it to Super Bowl XXXIX was because of T.O.’s energy level and devotion to the sport of football.
From T.O.’s hard work ethic, and determination, and willpower to win football games…to the touchdown celebrations so that the league can embrace the flare…to the mental toughness, so that he can help advance the Eagles to the super bowl…it all originated from T.O.’s childhood dream, and remarkable passion, and personal sacrifice to the sport of football, and as a result, it all led to a very special moment in expressing the art of his poetic craft, which was his own private, and personal Hall of Fame ceremony.
And so, whenever I see highlights of this Hall of Fame speech, which was delivered at the University of Tennessee—Chattanooga, and which can be seen on Twitter, it reminds me of all the remarkable touchdowns, by Terrell Owens, who was like this really, friendly fire of a wide-receiver and team leader, at the time.
And that is why I am very happy to see Terrell Owens give a Hall of Fame speech in his own way.
