We just got word today that our governor has extended the stay-at-home provision that previously expired tomorrow until May 4th. Considering the rate of infection in Minnesota is still climbing steadily here this news shouldn’t have been a surprise to anyone. This means at least one more month of quarantine.
Amstel is even getting tired of the social isolation.

Roughly half the people we see in public are wearing masks now. Unfortunately, many young people are still gathering in public parks and playing group sports like basketball. This could ultimately mean a longer quarantine period for us all, time will tell.
I’m getting along fairly well. I've only gained a couple of pounds. If it wasn’t for my watch or phone I would have absolutely no idea what day it is. The days are beginning to just meld together. Aside from walks with the dog the only time we venture out is for necessities like groceries or the occasional bike ride.
I’m noticing that the isolation is much easier if you can get outside into the sunshine and expend energy. I have no idea how prisoners who don’t have access to the outdoors for years at a time can handle it. I feel much better when I fill my days with something useful like taking classes or working on writing.
Pro (Pandemic) Tip --- For any of you whose hands are dry and cracked from all the hand washing, I've found a product that is a true miracle. Rub a little of O'Keefe's Working Hands on your hands in the evening and after a few days your hands will feel more human and less reptilian. Our son recommended this to us (thanks, Martese) and it works wonders.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words so I thought I’d share a few photographs of our neighborhood to tell the rest of the story. I hope you all and your families are doing well.

With Gratitude,
Eric Vance Walton
