The man born in 1997 has even worn a Portuguese national costume that he bought in the city of Banda Aceh.
During the tsunami wave, Martunis with her mother & two siblings drove a neighbor's pickup truck.
But the car sank and was dragged by the tsunami waves which made him separated from his family.
Martunis survived after reaching for a floating piece of wood then climbing a tree to survive.
He survived after being dragged by a tsunami that returned to the sea & was stranded in a swampy area near the tomb of Teungku Syiah Kuala.
After 21 days of survival, residents discovered Martunis on January 15, 2005.
Locals turned themselves in to British television crews who happened to be covering the area at that time.
In an instant, the face of Martunis who was still wearing a Portugal national team shirt was wide & viral.
The boy then attracted the sympathy of Portuguese soccer players, including Luis Figo, Nuno Gomes, Cristiano Ronaldo, coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, and Gilberto Madail, chairman of the Portuguese Football Federation.
the incident made him fly to Portugal and get a grant of 40 thousand euros or more than 500 million rupiah.
Now he has become a soccer player with a position as an attacker.
He joined the Sporting Clube de Portugal, a Portuguese sports club that is famous for its soccer team.
This club is headquartered in Lisbon.
Now Martunis is resting in Banda Aceh to recover his knee injury.
