Hitchiking wasn't going too well for Murray, he was stuck out there for seven hours, it was getting very cold, he resorted to jumping around just to stay warm, it was getting very dark and he thought hitchiking was suppose to be easier, he was getting very upset, but then later on he started accepting the fact that he might be standing out there all night. But then suddenly almost like a miracle a big transport stopped on the side of the road, Murray gathered his big suitcase off the side of the road and began running up to the transport truck, he noticed on the back of the truck there was a lot of peace sign stickers and the back and also very colorful stickers, he got to the side of the truck and opened the door and climbed up the steps of the truck, pick his suitcase on the middle seat of the truck and hopped in, he put on his seatbelt and looked over at the driver and Murray thought "what the heck this guy looks like Cheech from the Cheech and Chong movies" the driver had a great big cannon joint hanging from his mouth and then the driver asked "where are you heading?" and Murray responded with "British Columbia I think, I am not too sure yet" and the driver said "why I can get you to Thunder Bay, if that will help" Murray responded with "yes it will"
And Murray thought to himself, wow I am going to be in a truck with a hippy truck driver for over fifteen hours, Murray looked over at the truck driver to examine him a bit, instead of the traditional hat, he wore a ripe bandana on his head, it added a touch of whimsy to his appearance, it gave him the appearance of a carefree spirit.
The Truck driver turned to Murray and said, "My name is Charlie, what's yours?" Murray responded with "Murray" "Well nice to meet you Murray, want to smoke some of this joint, it is purple indica mixed with some skunk weed" said Charlie.
And Murray thought to himself, oh no I haven't smoked in years, it has been so long ago, back when Murray was in high school. but Murray thought what can go wrong, so Murray responded with yes, lets hit it.
So they started smoking one joint and then one led to another and another, the truck was totally hotboxed, Murray was soo blissed and out of it and he thought I hope that Charlie isn't feeling as crazy as myself, but amidst all of the rolling hills, Charlie seemed to be still a skilled truck driver, they ended up stopping in Sudbury and Charlie bought Murray a hamburger, Murray really needed it because he had the munchies big time.
Charlie ended up telling Murray a lot of stories about being on the road, he told Murray that he loves embracing Joy and spreading positivity everywhere where he goes, he loves travelling and seeing scenic spots surrounded by nature. He loves the open road and the freedom to do what he likes, some people may judge me for my lifestyle choices, but that doesn't bother him.
Finally they arrived in Thunder Bay, the ride didn't turned out that bad for Murray, it was pretty interesting, Murray said his farewell to Charlie, and hopped out of the truck.
When Murray got out of the tuck he realized the his left shoe fell apart, the whole sole of the shoe tore off and his one foot was getting very damp and cold, Murray panicked and then he found a great big Lay's potato chip bag on the side of the road and also an elestic band and he put the potato chip bag on his foot and tied the elestic band around the potato chip bag, so his feet wouldn't get damped.
So he stood there in Thunder Bay hitchiking with a potatoe chip bag for a shoe, he got so many weird looks from drivers passing by, many of them honking their horns at him.
Finally someone stopped and picked him up and the driver was going to Winnipeg, many hours went by in the car, it was very ackward, no one said a word.
Eventually the driver had to take a few calls on phone that was built into his car. Murray observed that the driver was a successful real estate agent in Canada, but that the driver was moving away from Canada before the Canadian housing bubble pops, the driver feared that after it pops Canada will hit hyperinflation like what Zimbabwe did back in 2007.
That ride took forever, Murray decided that he would have to stop in Winnipeg, to find a Salvation Army, hopefully he can get a voucher for a pair of shoes, the lays potato chip bag wasn't quite doing the trick, hopefully he can find a meal too.
