I begin by saying that I have no clue why i chose this field. Yes, I do love numbers, but what I didn't know was Accounts wasn't only about numbers! Its a whole world and field of its own. I decided to take up this challenging course because I saw the amount of respect these Chartered Accountants got. What I didn't know was how much I had to struggle to get to that level.
People have this impression that Accountants only have to crunch a few numbers on their computers, and voila, we get paid a huge sum of money! The struggle behind each and every Accountant is never known to the world. I am a confused kid, living in the small city of Mangalore situated in Southern India. The real struggle began when I was done with College and my parents decided to stop my allowance to make me more 'Independent'. I had to earn my living, while I was pursuing my Chartered Accountancy Degree. It isn't an easy thing to do. You never have time to for a social life, or for yourself. My day starts off with office and ends up with me studying books that contain a minimum of 800 pages. I get paid a monthly stipend of approximately 60 US Dollars, which isn't enough to make ends meet. I file tax returns of people who earn in millions and I wonder when will I have such figures in my Bank Account. Taking up this course was a very harsh decision for a carefree guy like me. I am trying my level best to make things right, and one thing I did realize was that its not the respect that is recognized, but its the amount of money you earn that separates you from the others.
