In a bizarre and unprecedented incident, a courtroom in Romania turned into something straight out of a horror film when a man suddenly stood up in the middle of a trial and declared before the judge and audience that he was not an ordinary human being, but a 600-year-old vampire!
What began as a typical case of fraud and threats quickly turned into a dramatic fantasy scene when the defendant refused to cooperate with the court, loudly proclaiming: "I have been immortal for centuries... human laws do not apply to me!" The judge, clearly puzzled, tried to calm the room, which had erupted in whispers and muffled laughter, before ordering the session to continue.
The man, dressed in old-fashioned black garments with a piercing gaze, didn’t stop at claiming to be a vampire. He insisted that his real name was "Vlad the Second", alleging that he was a direct descendant of the infamous Dracula. He even demanded to be exempted from trial, saying: "Earthly justice means nothing to creatures of the night."
The court, however, wasn’t swayed by the performance. After a preliminary psychological evaluation, it was concluded that the man suffered from a severe mental disorder with delusional tendencies. Still, the defendant clung to his story, refusing food and drink, claiming that he "only consumes blood," as he told investigators.
The case quickly gained international media attention, with humorous reactions flooding social media. Some users jokingly supported the man, while others demanded immediate psychological treatment before "it's too late."
While the court ultimately rejected his defense, the biggest question remains unanswered: Was he simply insane? A brilliant actor? Or maybe... something else?
