"Indeed, no one can thwart the purposes of your mind—for they can't be touched by fire, steel, tyranny, slander, or anything." —MARCUS AURELIUS, MEDITATIONS, 8.41
Life on Earth is not always easy and it’s infinitely more difficult if we’re convinced we're emotionally fragile or don’t have a reverse clause (back-up plan). How we deal with life’s challenges and hardships plays an important role in the levels of success and happiness we get to experience in life.
Living fully means facing betrayal or abandonment by partners and friends, disappointment in others (and sometimes ourselves), and obstacles larger than we ever imagined. The key is to live authentically—to summon the courage to show up, confront life’s challenges, and adapt by learning from them. This is evolution at its core, and humans excel at it like few other species on this planet. We just need occasional reminders.
One thing is for sure, we will be tested, but remember you have the power within you to activate that reverse clause and redirect your life’s course. There’s no shame in it, this is the key to living our very best life.
It’s important to take a mental audit of your life from time-to-time and ask a hard question, What people and/or things in my life are continually detracting from my joy and overall wellbeing? and then prune those branches, activate that all-important reverse clause. It’s difficult to be fragile when you’re agile. It’s imperative to decide when it’s in our best interest to make that all-important pivot.

For the coming week, set a notification on your mobile device for once during the morning and once in the afternoon (or write it on a Post-It Note and put it on your mirror), ask yourself…
What people and/or things in my life are continually detracting from my joy and overall wellbeing?
This will serve as a daily reminder throughout the next week
Be well, make the most of this day. Thank you for reading!
