Within the $30 million North Catfish Lake project, sediment would be dredged from within the lake to place along the shoreline and create 415 acres of marsh. Cordgrass, a native plant, will also be planted to stabilize the shoreline and kick-start new growth.
Interesting article about a couple restoration projects in South Louisiana. To me this is not the best way to restore the coast, it's not sustainable like fresh water diversions are. That $30 million dollars of restoration work will start eroding the day it's finished, unlike fresh water diversions that continuously pump in new water and silt year after year. I'm for restoration projects but I'm not wild about the way this is one is going to be done......
