The most famous example of a direct democracy country in our world today would have to be Switzerland. This country's outstanding history of direct democracy for over 700 years is a sterling example of the success of the direct democracy model. However, in Switzerland, they have also representatives taking on various chairs of state. They are accountable to the direct democracy process as a whole.
Implementing a model like Switzerland would keep the politicians of the world accountable at all times for their actions. They hold a model that truly could bring world governments into higher functioning democracies. The Swiss have one of the highest rated and best-working democracies on the Planet. The power of checks and balances would be given to the citizens of each country enrolled in this model themselves. Some say that Switzerland's direct democracy only works properly because there are only 9 million people. They use ballot voting for their democracy processes. Get rid of the ballet voting part of their democracy and use what we have at our disposal here in the 21st century to solve that issue. We have solutions that have the capacity to serve millions and billions of people at once that we never had before. There are forms of e-democracy being introduced today that could solve this problem entirely. It would be wise to move in the direction of enabling their use on mass scales immediately.

The world is ready for change! Don’t be afraid to make the jump. Representative democracy systems have been an utter failure. Just look at the US presidential election of 2016. It would be less likely to ever run into issues if the people had the power and authority to take control if they are unsatisfied to a great enough extent of the candidates running for heads of state and the same to politicians in general.
