The home planet of the Basilisks is an odd one, it’s land structure primarily consists of one large desert, jungle and antarctic biome regions which has affected the Chapter’s structuring, tactics and specializations very heavily.
Fortress Monastery:
The Basilisks’ primary Fortress Monastery “Huntsman’s Throne” is set in an area that is within the very middle of the three main biome regions of the planet.
However, this is mainly used for mass gatherings, rituals, prayers etc. The Basilisks have set up three secondary Fortress Monasteries within the primary regions of the planet:
“Winter’s Fang” in the antarctic region.
“Snake’s Tongue” in the jungle region.
“Dune’s Castle” in the desert region.

History:
During the 21st Cursed Founding a loyalist Death World by name of Castopha was under siege by constant raids of Dark Eldar and Orks. The planet was important due to it’s undeniable quality of high class minerals and ores which were sent to a nearby ForgeWorld which produced weapons and vehicles sent to the Imperial regiments in the nearby systems. The planet was also unique because of the hunter tribes that were made up of the planet’s feral population, the High Lords thought this an interesting opportunity and had organized an Adeptus Astartes Chapter be founded here. However, the Chapter quickly turned their back to the High Lords and Codex Astartes effectively going rogue, usually this would be met with extermination but this Chapter was simply too valuable to do so. And of course an Exterminatus on this particular planet would be extremely detrimental to the Imperium. The Chapter had split itself into 3 tribes each of them settling in the major climate regions of the world. Whilst Castopha is classified a jungle world there were still other climates, mainly deserts and the planet’s icy tundras and frozen poles. The tribes each created a minor Fortress Monastery in the hearts of these three climates resulting in the tribes specializing in different forms of warfare or as they call it, The Hunt. Interestingly enough however their armor color wasn’t varying in the Chapter’s tribes, of course there are some who prefer actual camouflage.
Due to the savagery of the planet’s feral population the Chapter’s own savagery in combat is even greater. This also leads to the Chapter’s members claiming trophies for themselves, mainly Orks and Dark Eldar of course however they are not the only prey on the planet. Many deadly predators stalked the jungles, many of them able to slaughter even Space Marines, when this happens the tribe from which the Astartes was from launch a sort of “Blood Hunt” where in they launch entire companies into the area and once they find their prey they close in and slowly crush it. On Castopha the Predator and Prey often find themselves switching roles.
This also applies to offworld and war actions.
Notable Characters:
Tabius Cobalt, Chaplain dedicated to he Second Company now entombed as a Dreadnought in the Second Chapter Monastery in the desert region.
Vorus Abulton, Sargent of the Third Company who had sacrificed himself to save second Prime Huntsman (this Chapter’s equivalent of Chapter Master) Althur Argon.
Arthur Sabbath, First Prime Hunter and immortal Hero of the Chapter named due to his devotion to protecting his Brothers.
Jebidi Garth, current High Chaplain of the Chapter, who’s battle focus is second only to the Prime Huntsmen of the Chapter, he is the oldest and wisest within the Chapter living 790 years and has been the one who chooses who is to become the next Prime Huntsman when the previous one is slain, he of course does make his judgements with the Chapter Council but the ultimate decision is his to make. Blooded Ancient Jebidi has also served within the Deathwatch during the initial arrival of the Tyranids into the Milkyway but had to return to his Chapter to decide a replacement Prime Hunter after the previous one had his body torn apart by a Tyranid Hive Tyrant on their homeworld’s moon Agath.
Bolthazar Kol, Captain of the 1st Company of Arctic Region.
Archus Sebatun, Great Huntsman of the Basilisks 2nd Ice Region Company and absolutely batshit insane madman who is so obsessed with the destruction of the Ork menace that he went so far as to claim the Power Claw of an Ork Boss Nob after a particularly viscous engagement for himself. After having it sent through the Techmarines (and possibly the Librarius but we don’t talk about that) he replaced his augmented right arm with the Claw and has slaughtered uncountable amounts of Orks and has slain several Bosses with this very weapon.
