Earlier today I wrote a post about the negative effects of tag spam on leofinance.io
I define "tag spam" as the use of irrelevant tags for a post. I've noticed a growing number of users are dropping all of the big money making tags on all of their posts to get more rewards.
I think that the solution to the problem is for Scotbot to only give rewards to the first two tags for a post. This would encourage people to write articles that are specific to the different tribes on HIVE.
While writing the post, I asked myself the question: What should a blogger do if the blogger is writing a post that is relevant to multiple tribes?
Notice that this question is specific to blogging and I immediately thought of #blogtoken . BlogToken is the hive tribe dedicated to the fine art of blogging!
After a few seconds of contemplation, I realized that the answer to the question was simple.
If a blogger is writing about a subject that is relevant to multiple tribes, the blogger should write original posts for each of the tribes.
The blogger could put links between the different posts. Adding links creates inbound links for the different tribal sites.
Making An Example of Myself
I decided to use the topic of #tagspam as an example. I took the picture below of a can of spam covered with tags. I decided that I would write about one topic in multiple tribes just to show what happens.
I needed a picture; So, I attached multiple tags to a can of spam. I posted the photo on photostreem.
The PhotoStreem tribe started before the Justin Sun kerfuffle. It failed to make the leap to Hive-Engine.
I then published my tagspam article on LeoFinance.
I am now writing a post on #blogtoken to show how writing posts on different sites provides an opportunity to build links between the sites.
To highlight what I am doing, I created an index to this collection of articles on my homepage.
Since I am on the topic, I decided to write a post on my blogspot blog about the proper way to present a topic over multiple platforms
Conclusion
I think that #tagspam is a growing problem on the HIVE blockchain. I believe that the best way to combat tagspam is to give out alt-coin rewards only on posts in the first or second tag position.
I believe that the tribal web sites would be wise to only lists posts in the first positions so that googlebot does not ding the tribal sites have having too much duplicated content.
The big question for this post is: What should a blogger do if the blogger is addressing a topic of interest to different tribes. Well, I think the best course of action is to write different posts for the tags.
My post on Leo was about the negative effects of tagspam on crypto. This post on blogtoken is about how bloggers should approach the issue.
These are two different perspectives of the same topic with different texts. I might do a few more posts which I will link to from the index on my home page.
Do you think that publishing posts with different text on the same topic is good alternative to tag spam?
