I think a lot these days, and since I started Steeming, I have had more opportunity to read. I actually MAKE time to read. I totally enjoy the variety of topics and stories. People are starting to have more fun on Steemit, and I constantly see more quality content. Not everyone is so serious anymore and they are starting to relax. So if I could give anyone any good advice, that will be to stick to good quality content. Do not try and be someone you are not! Write about you, and what YOU like. Put effort into your writing and build up your contacts gradually. Once again, Rome was not built in one day.
So during one of my recent "thinking sprees", I was thinking about the faces behind all these posts. I have quite a few digital friends now. But.... I don't know what they like, or what they enjoy doing and who they actually are. (I can however build up a faint idea in my mind about who they are, because I have a vivid imagination.) I follow these unidentified people because I enjoy their content.
They made an impression on me.
On Steemit we do not judge people. How can we judge someone if you don't know anything about them?
I don't know if they are religious or which race they are, I just enjoy reading their posts. (And I like the way they think.) AND....
This is very similar to my class situation. I have a class with lets say 23 students in front of me. They are dependent on me to teach them. But they can not see me. (I have a built in camera but if you see what I look like half of the time, you would appreciate the fact that I don't switch on my camera.)
These young, hopefully innocent little beings, are searching for knowledge and craving an education. (I know this, because they actually show up for class.)
I have always liked kids. I know kids, and kind-of have the ability to read kids' minds. I think kids all over the universe all think the same. They act the same, and they have the same issues, as they all go through the same various stages to discover themselves.
So they are quite amazed when I actually catch them out doing other things except listen to what I have to say.
I warned my kids today about the problem that we have making these digital friends. We often see these pictures floating around on other social platforms about teachers trying to show their students how easy it is to spread a rumor on a social media platform. It is sad that there are so many weirdo's out there. Sad that people are actually digital predators just waiting for their next target.
I have however not seen any digital predators here on Steemit. Remember you can't choose your family, but you can choose your followers.
