The whales are back. Took this photo off my balcony looking out to the Coral Sea. Two humpback whales jumping out off Flat Rock. It is rare to get two jump out together.
From May to November the whales migrate up and down the Queensland coast. Last years count there were over 4000 of them pass by including an albino humpback called Migaloo.
Most whales are humpbacks but there is the occasional Southern Right pass through. A lot of pilot whales. You are guaranteed to see them here without paying shit loads for a boat tour. I have seen them in so close that you think you could touch them if you had an inspector gadget arm.
