Lately, I’ve been taking on more responsibilities, not because I was asked to, but because I care about the team and want to support our shared goals. I’ve stepped up, filled gaps, and extended myself beyond the usual. At first, it felt fulfilling. But over time, I started noticing something frustrating: a few teammates have quietly started pulling back, leaning on me more than they should.
What began as an effort to uplift the team now feels like I'm carrying it. It’s draining, honestly. Some days, I wake up already tired—emotionally, physically, mentally. I try not to let the frustration show, but it’s there. The imbalance isn’t just exhausting; it’s disheartening.
Still, I remind myself of why I started. I’m not doing this for recognition. I’m doing it because I believe in the value of teamwork and the kind of person I want to become. Growth doesn’t come from staying comfortable. It comes from staying consistent, even when things get tough.
This chapter might be challenging, but I know it’s preparing me for something greater. So I’ll keep showing up. I’ll keep pushing. And one day, I’ll look back and feel proud of how I handled this moment, not just for what I accomplished, but for how I stayed grounded despite the weight I carried.
As Marcus Aurelius once said, “Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.” That’s my reminder: to lead with integrity, even when it feels unnoticed.
