It’s 2018 and advanced technology for the most part is still in its infancy. Technology as a whole in terms of telecommunication devices, laptops, tablets, servers, super computers, AI, etc is all something that has primarily hit our lives over the past 20 years. It has advanced so fast that it’s hard for most to keep up with.
Add the vast wide world web, apps, social networking and more recently crypto and you have a new frontier on the horizon!
Oh but let’s not also forget the innovations of drones, robots, self driving cars, and others that are paving the way for the future!
Technology is all around us and even if we don’t like it, in this day and age, it becomes a daily necessity. I work from home as an Office Manager for a local real estate investment company and normally I work out of a CRM system. BUT NOT TODAY... technology is not on our side at this time. Apparently the parent company for our CRM system scheduled maintenance from today through Friday which has inadvertently shut out my access from the site...meaning there isn’t much work for me to do except answer the calls anddddddd at this moment, there aren’t any! (Which is what led me to write this post)
Just think...
Technology is pretty much in every facet of our lives from how we communicate, entertain ourselves, transport ourselves, heal, research, navigate, network, socially survive and thrive.... Its to the point where we start to depend on technology and when technology has one of its uh-oh moments we are stuck. Like trying to do a math problem in our heads without a calculator. Or trying to get from point A to B by only using a key map. Or in my case an unexpected update comes that shuts down the whole system, smh. So just imagine a future where having a great quality of life and being successful is synonymous with the arsenal of technology that you use. Heck we are pretty much already there.
So as we continue to grow and learn into the future it’s imperative to hold on to human, manual abilities. You can’t always trust technology and the more advanced it becomes the more of a detrimental impact it can have on society if it doesn’t go right. I feel like the more we form this codependency for technology the less we think for ourselves.. further dumbing us down.
Every time I think of the impact technology has already had on us I think of the commercial with that family where there internet goes down. It shows them minute after minute slowly freaking out and not knowing what to do with themselves until an hour passes by and they literally go crazy. Don’t let technology turn us into ravaging savages constantly in search of a fix.
