It's funny how things work, sometimes.
It's funny how I am both a technology geek and a relic, at the same time. I was among the "bleeding edge" adopters to use the web, and was (and estimate) among the first 250,000 people on the planet to have an email account and a web browser "of sorts."
That said, I often feel out of touch with things.
Or maybe my values are just different.
Evening visitor in our yard...
"They" Don't Do Things Like They Used To!
Perhaps what I am feeling out of touch with is the way the digital age is changing.
I get it. You Vlog because it's "less work" than writing. But for me, consuming your content is more work, because I grew up in an age where speed reading was an essential tool... and I can read and digest the content of a 10-minute Vlog in ONE minute, if it was presented as written words.
But maybe I say that simply because I am used to the written word, rather than the spoken word.
Or perhaps, because I am an introvert, and introverts tend to be more comfortable "in writing" than "verbally."
Then there's the fact that everything seems to be designed primarily to be used as a phone app. Don't get me wrong, I use my phone quite adequately... but the thought of typing out an entire blog post like this on a phone? The HORROR of it! Phones are great for "a quick something," but not for much else.
At least for me. I find the tiny format frustrating. I find it time consuming and awkward to "expand" images to actually be able to see the detail of them. It's a very poor substitute for a 28-inch monitor.
And maybe that's yet another way I am showing my age... I'm more into quality than quick. I'm more into good than convenient.

I Still Love Technology, Though!
Everything is constantly changing, though. I'm sure it will be only a matter of a few years before we have a whole new form of interface that renders the entire "phone screens are too SMALL" argument moot... heads up projection displays, and so.
What we think of as science fiction today is seldom all that far away from reality.
In the meantime, I'm not getting any younger! I discovered this, today... as I spent three hours pulling weeds in the yard, and realized (very much!) that I am not 29 anymore! When did something as simple as weeding become such an arduous task...?
Well, that's enough "Grumpy Old Man" for now!
Hope you're all having a great week! Sorry I have been somewhat "scarce" for a while; outside life is pretty much eating me alive, these days... and that seems unlikely to change until the end of June. In the meantime, I'll do my best to show up, every now and then...
