Tesla CEO and SolarCity chairman Elon Musk just recently announced a new way for people to use solar power in powering their homes. The new product unveiled is called solar roof and is designed to replace the traditional shingles on a home with solar panels. The new energy product announcement comes just a couple of weeks prior to Tesla shareholders voting in favor of or against a SolarCity merger, they'll be doing that on November 17th of this year.

Musk showed off homes that were used from Universal Studio's back-lot and he demonstrated how the new energy products can easily compete with traditional roofing technology in the market. Musk demonstrated that they can now use their solar power technology to craft roofing materials that are on par with traditional Tuscan tiles, and more. Musk has also pressed the need for the design to be attractive so that people will actually want to opt for this sort of roofing over more traditional options.

These new designs help to bring solar technology and renewable energy production to any individual's home or business. It opens up the market with more creative options, in providing people with an aesthetically-pleasing solar panel variety for their home. The best part is that it the solar panels are customizable so that it can match a variety of home spaces and different looks.
A customer could revamp their entire rooftop with this new solar technology and from a distance you cannot tell the difference between it and a traditional rooftop. This is because each panel is engineered with photovoltaic cells that are invisible. The solar roof is offered to customers in four styles: slate glass, tuscan glass tile, smooth glass tile, and textured glass tile. And if individuals choose to combine the Tesla Powerwall with the new solar roof technology, they could set themselves up to power their entire home with 100 percent renewable energy.
