May have made information from up to 14 million users publicly.
Up to 14 million Facebook users may be affected by a software error that caused private posts to be shared publicly, the company states.
The error, which took place between the 18th and 22nd of May, occurred when Facebook tested a new feature. When it was discovered, the company changed the settings again, so things that were meant to be public were also private.
Facebook's privacy manager Erin Egan says the error did not affect previously published posts. She also states that Facebook now asks users to review their posts as well as privacy settings.
The announcement from Facebook comes shortly after it became known that the company has shared user data with Chinese companies, including Huawei, which US intelligence considers as a security threat.
