Mobile Technologies
The popularity of smartphoes and tablets has taken major rise over the years. A Mobile Operating System (OS) is software that allows smartphones, tablet PCs and other devices to run applications and programs.
A mobile OS typically starts up when a device powers on, presenting a screen with icons or tiles that present information and provide application access. Mobile operating systems also manage cellular and wireless network connectivity, as well as phone access. Today, the latest mobile devices use 4G Networking (LTE), which is curently the fastest mobile network. Also mobile devices use different operating system:
a. Android is Google’s mobile operating system, launched in September 2008, although its history technically began with the release of the Android alpha in November 2007. Being open source means several mobile phone companies use this OS for FREE.
b. iOS - is Apple’s mobile operating system that runs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Historically, Apple releases a new iOS version once a year, the current version is iOS 11.
c. Blackberry OS is a proprietary mobile operating system designed specifically for Research In Motion's (RIM) BlackBerry devices. The BlackBerry OS use in Blackberry devices like the BlackBerry Bold, Curve, Pearl and Storm series.
d. Windows Phone OS a closed source and proprietary operating system develop by Microsoft.

e. Symbian OS is the original smartphone OS developed and sold by Symbian Ltd. The OS is used primarily by Nokia with its S60 user interface and by Sony Ericsson with its UIQ user interface

f. WebOS - originally used in smartphones; now used in smart TVs.

g. Windows Mobile - developed by Microsoft for smartphone and pocket PCs
