I received my first computer for Christmas in 1994. It's my first memory of crying out of joy, no shit.
It had a 250 MB hard drive, 4 MB of RAM, a 33 MHz processor, and a massive 40 pound CRT monitor.
20 years later, I purchased a tiny, lightweight, sleek as hell laptop with a 500 GB hard drive, 16 GB of RAM, a quad-core 2.5 GHz processor, and a gorgeous 4k display that probably weights 12 ounces.
That's 2,000 times as much storage, 4,000 times as much RAM, and somewhere around 300 times the processing capability [actually way more than that if you account for fundamental changes in chip architecture].
...For 1,000 dollars less, and that's not even accounting for inflation.
Imagine if our innate capacity for logic, ethics, or sheer survival evolved even 1/100th this quickly.
Where would we be in 20 years?
