Windows because is a very familiar operating system.Many users use hacked Windows version because they don't want to buy a paid version.This is very bad because this hacked versions are vulnerable.
I use Linux(Ubuntu 16.04) for 3 month on a old laptop and work very good.My laptop have a dual core processor with 2 gb ram and 40 gb hdd.With Windows 10 Home version this laptop work a little harder.With Ubuntu 16.04 work very good.Many people say that Linux is more difficult to use but with new versions of Ubuntu is as easy to use as Windows.
Linux is a FREE good option to Windows and work good for old devices.Also you have many free apps that you can download from marketplace.
