Drilled 125 km off the Moorish coast, at a water depth of 2.51 km and a total length of 5,266 km, the exploration well Orca-1, discovered large reserves of natural gas. Rystad Energy (a Norwegian analytical company) named the Orca field as the largest and deepest gas discovery of 2019. The recoverable reserves of the new field in Mauritania are approximately 1.3 billion barrels of oil equivalent.
