Greetings,
Within my jazzy vomit practice, I am focused on adopting, and experimenting with, ideas of craft, technique, and the ‘hand-made’. Working with a range of approaches, from textiles, print and bookmaking, I am interested in exposing the automatic nature in ‘learning’ a new skill.
Systems of making, where ways in which to begin a work are as important as ways in which to exit them. I rely on the humorous, the over-saturated and the ill-fitting. Elements within my everyday that appear to be absurd in their placing and realisation.
Who knows what to believe. A confusing self contradiction, denial or just straight up lies.
Really I try to mix philosophies, traditions, styles and trends, to create a piece, or entity, that is perhaps far more concerned with locating its own personality or ultimate effect, rather than its supposed use. Just like any mother fucker on this planet. Thoughts bleed into the stitches, transfering them into the physical world - forgotten like a strong sigil.
Through the physical, industrious and repetitive actions that my works demand in their construction, I contemplate the methods and rituals behind making and presenting objects that could exist in any timeline anywhere.
