Hello hello! My name is Tamar, pictured here at the amazing hippie gathering known as the Oregon Country Fair - wearing my grandmothers old square-dancing dress along with a belt, pouch and skirt hikes I made. I've been on Steemit for a couple of months now, pretty regularly for the last 2 months and I'm looking to join The Alliance. Here is a bit of background about me first, before I get into the nitty-gritty about joining your amazing group!
I'm a mom in my 40's with 3 girls that keep me super busy. I worked in public health research for 14 years and then got laid off due to lack of grant funding. This lead to me taking up leatherworking and starting an Etsy shop. I've had a bit of success with it, mainly making leather diffuser bracelets for people who use essential oils and recently have started making bags and pouches too. My oldest daughter starts high school next year and is in the local International High School down the road and will be learning Japanese - and she is a kick-ass artist. My middle daughter is learning Japanese in a language immersion school and the youngest will be joining her next year when she starts Kindergarten. I will soon find myself with empty days and I am starting to spread my wings on Steemit in anticipation of that free time. I could go on and on about all the things I'm interested in, but instead - let's get to why you're here. To read about my application!!
I found @thealliance because I was asked to chart my course by @artemisnorth, aka: @fiberartists. I have been looking around for more groups to join that can help me grow as a Steemian and get closer to my goals that I charted, which I will be posting soon. I started looking around at some of the posts made by alliance members and was impressed by the writing and time put into them. I started out on Steemit with some colorchallenge photography posts and a leather journal I had just finished. The more I look around and get a better idea of what makes 'quality' content, it inspires me to raise my game... along with my formatting game! Some of the layouts that people code are stunning and shows that it really pays to put the time and effort into what you are presenting to the world. #steemitgoals
I would love to join a group of people who want to make quality content, while helping each other at the same time. I'm still learning and trying to figure out how to improve what I do on Steem and grow along with you all. Together. Team. Helpers. Learners. Those are some of the words that come to mind when I think of joining.
I have quite a lot of knowledge that I've acquired from life. Here are a few skills I have and want to share with the world, while learning more about them at the same time. My motto: Never stop learning!
- leatherworking
- crochet
- knitting
- sewing
- embroidery
- crafts for kids
- essential oils
- cooking
- graphic design (I have a degree for it too)
- brewing (kombucha at the moment!)
- probably some other stuff I can't think of at the moment
I can bring a genuine desire to help others, while being respectful, honest, and hardworking. I also really love inspiring others to try new things and, I am hoping, by showing the process I go through with some of my projects - it will get other people to try new things outside of their comfort zone. Most people can't be awesome at something on the first try, it takes consistent practice and help from peers and mentors. I'm ready to be a: student, peer, and mentor in #thealliance.
