One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it´ll be fun watching it.
A friend of mine was suffering from blood cancer a few years ago. He told me an anecdote from his time at the hospital that changed my life forever.
It´s the story about The Flying Donkey.
The Flying Donkey
"I was suffering from blood cancer and according to the doctors there was almost no hope.
One day my family and friends meet me at the hospital. They surrounded my bed, trying to hide their tears, and it almost felt as if they were saying 'goodbye'.
Then suddenly my best friend came in. He looked at the group of people, then looked at me and started laughing.
We were all surprised. How could he laugh in such a bitter situation?
Then he explained: 'I can´t imagine you guys are all crying! This son of a bitch who is lying in front of you (then he pointed the finger on me) is the luckiest man on Earth!'
The others stopped crying and stared at him not knowing what he was talking about.
'Yes! This guy has probably seen everything in life. The only fucking thing that could be still missed in his album might be a flying donkey.'
There was a huge silence until we all started laughing at the same time. He was so damn right. I had actually seen everything in life, and we all knew that. There was no reason to cry, no argument to be sad.
Two months later I left the hospital. I am not sure if this Flying Donkey thing had anything to do with my recovery. But I somehow felt incredibly powerful after knowing that I was actually ready to die but didn´t have to.
From that day on I swore to God that I would enjoy being alive for the rest of my time."
His story moved me like no other one had ever done before. I still remember the day when we were standing in the middle of a party and tears filled my eyes. There was so much truth in his words.
"We should all live our lives to the fullest, not carrying them to extremes but being thankful for every given day," he added.
That was the day I decided to follow his example and start LIVING.
That donkey definitely changed my mind.
I am not saying that I didn´t enjoy my life before or didn´t know how to have fun, but since then I do it CONSCIOUSLY. That´s the key!

- Love consciously
We never know how much time we have, so we should use it properly.
