"Ye are the salt of the earth;..." - Matt. 5:13
I can remember one of my Chemistry classes on Acids, Bases and Salts when my 'interesting' teacher defined Salts as a compound formed from the union of hydrogen(H+) and hydroxyl(OH-) i.e the reaction of positive and negative ions of an acid and base respectively. Enough Chemistry for now.
Question: Why would Jesus refer to us as salts of the earth?
Firstly, I believe GOD in His resplendence understood the complexities of running the imperfect earth and didn't give the work of governance to angels but men. Based on that thought, secondly, we as humans lose sight of that puissant but sublime word: HUMANITY.
We most times see this as a weakness but it's actually a strength. We descry our fails and frail, our falls and flaws and conclude we're good for nothing but forget that as Salts, it would require those good sides, moments and deeds alongside those bad, ugly and terrible sides of our lives to make the earth and world around us be better. Just like it takes the positive and negative wires to produce power in electricity so it take the same to be salts. I know there's a place for balance and temperance but It's a principle of life. Take pride in your humanity(+ & -) and unleash it's potential.
So, who's judging you?
Question: Are they GOD?
